Situated on the "revers", terraced, of a hill of Provence,
in the south of France, near Forcalquier, between Banon and St Michel l'Observatoire.
Here Giono placed the begining of his novel "Regain".
The word "brousse" means heath, brushwood. During the last
century, because of a illnesse wich took off all the men in the village,
it was also called Revest des Dames.
The escutcheon presents La Vache -the cow- wich symbolizes abundance
and also reminds of the name of the first seigniorial family: Les Vachères. |
